In Episode 6 of Windows Games on Linux, I am going over configuring Fallout 3 using Steam Proton. This guide doesn't go over GOG or Disc installs, but only those that own it through Steam.

Recommended Fallout 3 Launcher Settings
HDR/Bloom = OFF

If you have flickering or texture popping
Turn off Anti-aliasing

Recommended Custom Launcher Options
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 DO=(%command%); "${DO[@]/%FalloutLauncher.exe/Fallout3.exe}"

Other Notes:
Alt+F4 to kill game as it doesn't cleanly exit for me
