This time around, not a mod, but a preview about Fallout76. This is Bethesda's new masterpiece, or at least, it's supposed to be. I've been playing the BETA and these are my first impressions, spread out over several shorter video's, each covering certain aspects of the game and giving some background information.

This video discusses the game's storyline and character development. I will also make additional first impression videos about:
Graphics, Sound & Performance
Questing & Progression
Multiplayer and Public Events
Crafting and Building
The Combat & VATS
Surviving the Wasteland
Modding this game

And of course a final conclusion video, with my main takeaways from playing the BETA. The goal of this short series is to show you my first hand experience, and also give you a good idea of different facets of the game. Hopefully, this helps you decide if you should buy it.

** Storyline & Character Creation:
Fallout76 is set in West Virginia, in the year 2102. This is 25 years after the bombs fell, and you as a player will emerge from Vault 76 in the traditional way that we've come to know from Bethesda games over the last couple of years. With a big flashing light, that is.

Both the location and the moment in time are interesting decisions. West-Virginia is has a ton of folklore that Fallout76 happily uses in its game, such as the Mothman and the Flatwood Monster. That last guy killed me btw, my only death during the beta. There's some famous landmarks that are present in the game as well, such as the University and the New River Gorge Bridge.

The era that Bethesda chose is very shortly after the bombs fell, only 25 years. For comparison, Fallout 3 is set in 2277, Fallout New Vegas in 2281 and Fallout 4 in 2287, almost 200 years after Fallout76. This means that the radiation hasn't had as much of an effect on the world, at least in theory. You will see a lot of mutated animals, but unfortunately no other humans. I'll get to that in another video. If you walk around the world though, it looks really just a lot like any other Fallout game.

When starting up this game, You'll wake up in the Vault. Fallout76 serves as a small tutorial area, where you're learning the basic concepts of the game. And after creating your character, which comes with a ton of customisation, you're ready to explore the world once more. But this time, together with other players.

The main storyline in Fallout76 covers once again an Overseer, this time the one from Vaul76, who's left the vault before you did. She left notes and holotapes all over the place, and you're tracing her steps. She'll tell you about herself, her youth and her time as overseer . You will head about her adventures when she just left Vault76, meeting other people, known as the Responders. Unfortunately though, also the Responders are all dead, which should come as no surprise, given that Bethesda announced that there would be no human NPCs in Fallout76. A big mistake, if you ask me, but I'll get to that in a later video.

For now, I won't spoil more of the storyline, but wrap this first video up. Let me knkow if you have any questions regarding the other subjects, so I can answer them in the next videos! for now, thanks for watching and I will see you next time, byebye
