In the southern barrack, there's two skill books. Dean's Electronics immediately on the shelf to your left, and Duck and Cover! under a first aid box in the back.

With 30 Medicine, you can heal Snuffles the pet molerat to gain NCR fame.

In the center of Sloan, you can use 35 repair to fix a generator for a cash reward.

In the mess hall is a star cap. Jas Wilkins will ask you to retrieve a deathclaw egg.

Go to Chomp Lewis for the rewards for Snuffles and the generator. Also, volunteer to kill the alpha deathclaws at the quarry for some stimpacks and a cash reward if you can do it.
