I really thought I was going to beat it this session. I really wanted to beat it this session. I failed to beat it this session. That meant at least one more session, as my very soul cried out in pain. As I proclaimed after realizing this sick and twisted truth, it would take a lot more than awesome trailers for The King of Fighters XIV to cheer me up from this devastating setback.
ActRaiser was another random choice for a title, I think my whole thought process stemmed from the fact that several people wanted to become gods in this game. Rufus, Sephiroth, even Hojo. It's not clever, but Ehrgeiz fit better with the previous episode and ActRaiser was the best thing I could think of.
I think my favorite parts of this session were the cutscene with Weapon, which was probably the most visually impressive thing in the entire game and the fight with Hojo. Saying goodbye to Rufus and the rest of the Shinra Corporation was pretty tough though, as they were incomprehensibly better than the game's actual big bad.
I think the most heart-breaking part about this session was not so much the fact that I failed, but WHERE I failed. I didn't even die on a boss, just a random enemy. To make matters worse, it was a repeat of an enemy I had felled not long before my last failure of the night. The fact that Dari, who was acting as my navigator, told me to go "weast" on the failure preceding my final one of the night did very little to raise my spirits.
