I'll be honest, before I decided to name this session, I had no idea what Brain Lord was. I ended up playing it for a quick bit to see how it was, and it's actually fairly interesting. So I feel that it definitely fits the criteria for titling these videos. That is, it's a game currently owned by Square Enix I'd rather be playing than this dreck.

So, in this one, Cloud's brain gets broken. I know he's coming back eventually, but with Aeris dead and Sephiroth in some kind of a gem tube or whatever, that gives me some more time with the more potentially interesting characters. And what a good time was had by me! Rufus and Cid are pretty cool, kind of wish they had had more emphasis in the plot itself. I'd say hopefully the remake fixes all that, but let's face it, if any character besides the Holy Trinity of Suck gets any more elaboration on their characters, smart money's on Tifa.

Mind you, Tifa's not a bad character, but she's kind of archetypical: the love interest/childhood friend of the main character. I think I'd rather spend more time with the grizzled old mechanic, the jerkass usurper of the evil organization, the no-nonsense dude with a gun for a friggin' prosthetic hand, the sassy kleptomanic kunoichi, the supposed "wolf" who looks like a lion to be honest and even the animatronic doll run by the guys you were fighting against in the first place. Plus the fact that she drops her quest to save the world to wipe drool off of the face of the world's mopiest vegetable doesn't really endear her to my heart much either.

That train sequence was interesting, though.
