FarCry:New Dawn - SteamDeck GamePlay
0Maaaaan the Farcry games are the perfect games for a SteamDeck, literally made for them buuuut Farcry 5 was glitchy beyond belief, with its frame rates drops making it unplayable, game not saving after missions, freezing etc etc it was a mess… but a mess I pushed through and actually completed on the Deck. the game itself is actually amazing and I loved it, my favourite Farcry now by a mile but I can honestly say there was not a single day I didn’t get some sort of glitch or have to reboot the deck to get it to play.
now the ending of Farcry 5(spoilers ahead)..
One of my favourite ends to a game, the hero does not win and a nuke gets set off destroying Hope County and leaving our hero trapped in a bunker with the deranged bad guy. Crazy but I loved it…
Then I heard about New Dawn. A new Farcry game set years after the fall of Hope County and I was all in for it.
Upon first playing this game you can tell it’s a complete different monster to its predecessors. I’d say a mixture of Farcry 4/5 with a bit of max max chucked in. Would be the best way to describe it.
A few changes though, the Weapons now need to be crafted and vehicles, basically you collect scrap and go back to home back to make whatever you need to progress through missions. It’s not bad, just different.
The game looks absolutely amazing, I’d even say some of the best graphics I’ve seen on the Deck. Hope county has never looked so good.
You get your usual Farcry game styles (main story, side missions, outposts etc etc). Nothing new there but it is not a bad thing at all.
Now the big question. How buggy is it?
I’ve played it for 3 hours and it a single glitch, bug or freeze. The game is running sublime which honestly has shocked me and I’m really enjoying it.
