Farming Proof of Concord Kept - Notes and Analysis - Dark Souls III [PS4]
Why would one do this to themselves?
- Well, unfortunately a few of the game's covenant systems are completely broken (at least as of this video; perhaps a patch will come). Farming is the only realistic way of getting these items. You need 30.
- You should be able to obtain a Proof of Concord Kept for helping Way of Blue members. Unfortunately...no one uses WAY OF BLUE or...the level matching just doesn't work. I was summoned ONCE in about 30 hours of game play. ONCE. I'm wearing Blue Sentinels covenant the entire video. Not one summon.
- If you want to get a Platinum in this game (I do; I have Plat'd the entire series + Demons and Bloodborne).
Farming notes:
- I start at ~1.2 million souls. I end at ~3.3 million. I believe it took me about 4 million to get 28 Concord Kepts.
- 264 base luck (+50 Rusted Coin): 100 - Symbol of Avarice; 14 base luck; 50 Covetous Gold Serpent Ring
- Stats: SL 106: 26/11/40/26/20/40/10/8/14
- Equipment: Washing Pole + 10, Grass Crest Shield
- ~Play time: 2:40. I get my 11th CK of this run at the 2hr40min mark (this video wasn't the first time I ran through this). I believe you get 2 CK in the normal game, so I found 28 total. It sounds like it should take about 7-8 hours with this setup.
Strategy notes and other thoughts:
* I vary up what I'm doing to fight off boredom, but here are some general thoughts:
* I normally either try to take down 4 Knights in a one Rusted Coin run or go for 3 Knights with one Coin and add the Buffed up version to the run
* I'm convinced the Red Eyes version has a better drop rate; I need to analyze the tape more, but I'm pretty sure he alone drops 4-5 and I did not go through him every time in this video
* I sometimes use Human Pine Resin, I sometimes don't; for this build and equipment, I can take down the 2nd Knight with two fully charged Strong Attacks and can take down the 3rd Knight with three fully charged strong attacks
* If I had to guess, mathematically speaking, doing the 4 Knight run probably yields more Concords / minute, but it's so much more fun to play with the Red Eyes
* In general, I try to position myself closer to the bonfire after the last Knight dies; this involves drawing the 2nd or 3rd closer; this is why I'm rolling most of the time
* I found that maxing stamina at 40 was helpful to have enough to take down the 2nd and 3rd Knights
* There are some brutal stretches where I don't find a Concord for a long, long time...but then others where I found two back-to-back...very frustrating...
* You'll notice I end up maxing my Titanite Shards...I was just going to deal with it and the "maximum" message that happens, but wow...it got annoying; I just ended up dumping what I had occasionally
* This runs' Concords / minute average was...11 Concords found in approximately 2:40 (I remember at the 2:00 minute mark that I didn't show how many I started with...). The run starts at 19, I quit at 30. So, that's a Concord every 14min30secs.
- I believe I die 3 times in this session.
Strategy notes:
- I try a bunch of different tactics looking for the ideal speed run. I ended up settling on the following basics (the first few runs are pretty awful on my part..)
- I'm sure there's more efficient ways of killing these things, but this is how I took them down with a Washing Pole.
- First Knight: Use a coin or run straight at him. Strafe to the right to dodge the Lightning Attack. Occasionally you get TOO CLOSE and he won't use it, and that just screws up everything. The takeaway is that you don't need to ROLL. Just strafe right. The attack will miss. At this point, if you start your first attack fast enough, he will die in 4-5 hits every time. If you don't start fast enough, he will get his shield up and may be able to stop. The Washing Pole's range and being at 40 Endurance helps. This is the easiest encounter.
- Second Knight: I fully charge a strong attack and ideally do it one more time to take him down and move on (it takes me a while to figure this out...). If that doesn't work, well, it's just attack him until he dies. There's no real defense here...the intent is speed...
- Third Knight: This is optional, but I like this fight. The trick is to get him to see you while you're charging up a strong attack. He has terrible vision though, you literally have to be right on him. With a Human Pine Resin buff, I can take him down in 3 Strong Attacks. Again, I'm convinced he has a better drop rate.
That's it! Got better tips? Let me know! But thankfully I never have to do this again. I'm just sad I couldn't actually get these the "right way".
