Fe by Zoink- A First Look (Early Game Spoilers)
16Fe is a 3d puzzle solving platformer and, in this video, we are going to take a first look and discover what is Fe. This video is based on the highlights of a live stream and includes my first reactions to the game.
At the time this video goes up I have already beat the game and collected almost every crystal in the game.The game is absolutely beautiful. For a $20 indie game it is stunning. Zoink Games is the developer and they have created a truly unique art style for Fe.
What is Fe?
In this game you will control a small fox like creature through a world that will not hold you hand. You are given direction through small ques in the game. Birds, deer or other animals will try to subtly guide you without using giant arrows or text.
Is Fe any good?
The game feels great from a control standpoint. I did not find myself getting frustrated with the inputs or with trying to reach certain areas. For the most part the path forward was clear.
There are not a ton of invisible barriers. There are natural barriers that work well with the environment which I really enjoyed.
The sound design in the game is on point. There are certain areas where the volume and instrumentals increase as you get higher. There are other tense areas where the music drops entirely. The sound design was one of the best parts of Fe.
The collectible crystals start off easy then once you have “all” the abilities you have the ability to gather them all. The last 10 or so crystals are VERY difficult and I am currently looking for them all. I think that there is the right amount of difficulty and have had a great time enjoying the environment as I search.
Should you buy Fe?
I would highly recommend picking up this game if you have not done so already. I would say this is the best indie game I have played in a good long while.
