Part 2. I really wanted to love this game because of how great the first one is. It honestly is more of the same but for every step forward this game provided it seemed to take 2 steps back in other areas. They added a save marker option which is freaking awesome. And thank goodness for skipable cutscenes and subtitles. The graphics are still wonderful for a Playstation era game. The tank controls are fine once you get used to them, there is also an option for 3d controls, but it felt like the targeting was more sporadic and the roll forces you to stand up afterwards which leaves you exposed. Both felt better in the first game. The story is just as crazy as the first and is a nice prequel showing how the crew got together. Most of the music sets a nice ambience without ever being a distraction aside from a couple of songs which may or may not be a bit irritating. I died a lot, some just to see the death scenes, hard is no joke though and there are some encounters that seem a bit unfair and enemy spam can be unreal at times. Near the end of the game they are just throwing tons of enemies at you, but you do have a crazy arsenal at your ready. Your choice of guns is huge compared to the first game and its great fun to use the new and crazy toys. The level design is fun, though there is a fair amount of backtracking in most areas and progress can sometimes be a bit hard to find. The puzzles for the most part are about on par with the first game if not a bit easier. My only real issue is there are a set of challenges near the end of the game that can be downright unfair and don't necessarily rely on skill and more luck and that is kinda crappy. Some are so bad they really had me quite irate. It usually takes a lot to truly frustrate me and some of those challenges could have been toned down or even removed entirely. This honestly made me go from having a great time to just being frustrated and let down after a largely wonderful game. Either way, enjoy me screaming my lungs out during another lovely blind playthrough.
