Fear Effect Part 1
0What a freaking great game. Considering it's a PSX game it has wonderful graphics. The cell shaded characters and the CG backgrounds are honestly unmatched on the Playstation. The level design is very straight forward which is perfectly fine. Sometimes linearity is what the doctor calls for. My biggest complaint, which seems to be the most common, is how obtuse some the puzzles are. I only had real trouble with one, but they are so far out there. I'm not surprised that people struggled with them. The tank controls are fine if you grew up with the OG PSX, but can take time getting used to. I loved the fact that you got a duck and a roll. The music fits and and sets the tone with its ambience for every area you explore. It's cool that you get to play as other characters there just really isn't anything that makes them unique. Everyone is more or less the same, just slightly different perspectives. Still neat. I have played this one before but was happy to go back to it and boy was I not disappointed. Even on the Hard difficulty it doesn't pose a large threat. The story is fun, not ground breaking but entertaining. The only real downside is you cannot get the True Ending unless you play on Hard.
