Hi everyone, I'm back! Wow, three AMVs in one year, and I still have one in the works for A Silent Voice (stay tuned for that). We're keeping it goin' here, hope you guys have been enjoying the resurgence of content.
I'm excited to show you guys the product of... 4 years of work. I started this one back when Deftones dropped their Gore album in 2016 and it sat on the backburner for a long time. To give you an idea of how long ago that was... well, they just released their most recent album and I already made an AMV for that (check out "Headless" in my videos).
To be frank, when I started this music video, I was working and streaming and didn't have the time and creative energy to finish it. It was so incomplete and sparse that I felt like I had nothing to go off of. Well, I returned to it maybe a month or two ago and put in some serious work. The pandemic has me inside a lot, so that lets me focus on some of my older hobbies now that I'm not going to the gym anymore. So, after lots of late nights of staying up until 6-7 AM in order to, I stress, *find* the time to get it done, this once forgotten project has reached the finish line. I'm just really happy about that, there's something immensely satisfying about completing an old project.
There were some troubles with finding an answer for the strange stages this song goes through. The song mixes up the traditional format and doesn't end on a normal note, so I had to get creative and think about how I wanted to work around that. Usually songs and movies follow a typical structure, so this was something I was worried about, but in the end, made for a cool surprise.
This is one of my favorites animes and definitely favorite fights of all time. Highly recommend watching Hajime no Ippo if you guys like a good, heart-felt shounen that knows how to lay on the feels and has great fights.
