Feather Raid is an "old" (by today's standards) doujin game based of the very popular (for a time, though it is still loved by many) "Kanon" series...now, we've played numerous games based off of Kanon and games dealing with Kanon characters...Kanon this, Kanon that...OH MY GOD, that's a HUGE KANON!! --- Lol, seriously though; I cannot use description space describing just what Kanon is at this point. To be very brief, it was a beloved visual novel by "Key" and was on PC, as well as ported to other tech --- the game has some hentai content in it (that was removed in later versions) and Kanon become so popular that it also got a "light novel", manga, anime, OVA, and more. As stated before, Kanon has a good number of doujin and fan-made games based on it...Feather Raid is just one of those games, from a doujin circle known as "Ichigo Citron", or "15citron"...IC was quite popular back in the day, and they are still around, but they seem to be generally making Android app games. At any rate, FR isn't a bad game...but hardcore SHMUP fans may find the game to be too easy, even on the hardest levels. The game looks okay, and sounds decent (with various alternative variations of "Kanon" music) and there are 6 (5 regular + 1 hidden) characters to choose from, who function differently from each other (though they have similarities too such as characters sharing bombs, their "drop bombs", etc.). It plays somewhat like "Kapra W", another game from 15citron (though Kapra W is newer and something of a progression from FR)...you can power up like you would in Gradius by grabbing hearts and powering up when you grab a certain number to power up different abilities. Each character has an "ultimate" attack, that is their "bomb stock" attack --- Ayu's, for example, is "F.Raid" (Feather Raid), where she projects a wave of energy in front of her and can tackle enemies and deal good damage to bosses while being momentarily invincible. Shiori's ultimate move is different from Ayu's and she can "Sketch", which freezes time briefly.

The game has numerous stages, as well as time/score attack stages, but from what I gather, those can only be played with Ayu...which isn't a bad thing, as Ayu is generally a balance-type anyway. Speaking of balance, not all characters are created equal; you can level characters up by clearing stages numerous times for experience points and Ayu at level 6 doesn't get as much HP as Mai at level 6. However, it is something that is done for a bit more challenge (not to mention, based on a character's abilities, lower HP may not be bad as they may be more versatile/powerful with their skills overall). The game is a decent way to kill some time!
