Final Fantasy 7 remake is not due out until March 3 2020 and between now and then we have a lot of time to speculate about what could be included with the first instalment of the game. As we know there are going to be many changes made to the Final Fantasy 7 story whether it be new characters or new mechanics.

One of the mechanics that I have been thinking about lately is the dating mechanics. If you recall in the original Final Fantasy 7 you would accumulate points with different characters that would in tern impact different elements of the game. The most obvious one being who you would take on the gold saucer date. While you have a promised date with Aerith this may not happen. You could take Yuffie, Tifa and even Barrett!

Because gold saucer is very unlikely to be in the FF7 Remake this could present an opportunity for Cloud to take Aerith on a date in the first instalment. I look at Persona 5 as a great example. While I understand that these games are drastically different Id like the present the idea of possibly adding relationship levels with all the characters. From the avalanche crew to party members.

Final Fantasy is no stranger to relationship levels. Its just never been blatantly obvious. FF7 had a points system and Final Fantasy X had one as well. Tidus would have different dialogue instances with Riku Lulu or Yuna depending on your actions. This would also determine who would throw you the blitzball during your final overdrive.

Is it possible that a points system could be added to the FF7 Remake? Could it even be made very clear similar to how it did in Persona 5. I see this as a possibility given how the game takes place in Midgar and is expanding on the events in a major way. For example This could add things like playing darts with wedge or going on dates with Jessie. Positive interactions with characters increasing Clouds bond with them.

Now I understand that this is wild speculation and could very well have no place in FF7 Remake. But, this is something I would love to see to add an even deeper layer of immersion and investment of the characters. And admittedly an excuse to get a date scene even without the inclusion of gold saucer.
