FFXIV Heavensward The Great Gubal Library (Hard)
3:46-Demon Of The Tome. A simple fight about dodging, so move your camera and pay attention to the AoEs going off and you'll be fine. Just note that he does have some knockback that can hurl you into an AoE or two.
10:50-Liquid Flame. If he targets you with Slosh, get away. I'm not sure about his vortex or humanoid form but his hand form does have a nasty cleave. When he casts Ferrofluid, all players will receive either a + or - mark. If your mark is the same one as the boss, stand near him, if it's the opposite get away from him.
When the moon and sun markers go off, go to the matching circle on the floor. Though I've sworn sometimes not all of the circles are functional all the time so run to a glowing one just to be sure.
18:56-Strix. Focus target is recommended since you will want to react to what he is casting to prevent yourself from taking hefty damage. If he is casting On Quakes, go into the wind circle that grants levitation. When On Tornados is being cast, go into the darker circle to get the Leaden status. On Imps means you'll want to go into the water circle, he will still cast Thunder III on you but it won't hurt nearly as much when you're not an imp.
On Darkness II is unavoidable damage that just requires healing.
When he's about halfway out of HP, he will bring out a huge book and unleash a Behemoth Ward upon you. Dodge the AoEs it drops and be mindful of where meteors fall, you'll need to hide behind them since Behemoth will unleash Meteor. The game tells you how long you've got to reach cover.
After that, it repeats and he combines his mechanics, throwing out just about every kind of circle.
This is the Great Gubal Library Hard Mode. It's pretty neat. Though the original is still my preferred version, this one will not disappoint. The new music is pretty good, retraining some of the spirit of the original but making it feel more unsettling. There are also now more Lore books to be read too.
This run was good for the most part, huge pulls but...I have not been cleaved this much in a long time, it wasn't on every pull but a few of those it was a problem lol. The Boogymen type mobs do have Ripples of Gloom and targeted moves that also hurt.
I do feel bad for the Summoner here though. But this was honestly the best run I've had while trying to record. No wipes despite some close calls.
I do really like how Strix really has a nice potentially devastating move that could wipe you. The past few dungeons just had weak last bosses that were too simple. It's also an interesting design for a boss and fun to see some familiar CT mechanics again.
