0This game is great. It’s much more fluid and controllable than other 3D fighters of the time. I don’t get way Virtua Fighter got all the credit and this game was forgotten. This game was much better but unfortunately didn’t survive past the first sequel. Using cages rather than ring out is much more satisfying as you get the advantage of bashing the opponent against the cage without getting a cheap win.
The graphics are really good for the time. The fighting is really intuitive and fast paced. It makes Virtua Fighter seem sluggish and telegraphed. The mid-air juggling is also a satisfying bonus.
It’s very rock and roll too, with a lot of attitude. One character even has a guitar as a weapon.
If I had more time, I would like to put a lot into this game. For some reason, it really stood out to me over the other fighters of this era.
