Map: NME (plutonia.wad MAP19)
Category: UV Max -solo-net (Ultraviolence with co-op thing placement, 100% kills and secrets)
Time: 5:52.34
Source Port: dsda-doom v0.10.0

Co-op/solo-net makes three major additions to this map, all of them delightfully stupid. The first change is a cyberdemon placed just beyond the first teleporter. The second is another cyberdemon, this one inside the small room with the switch that reveals the third cyberdemon (the only cyberdemon in a normal single-player game). The third is a set of eight arch-viles guarding the exit.

In this demo, I telefragged the first cyberdemon, which requires some luck, but it's close enough to the start of the level that it's not too annoying to simply retry until you get it. You can also run past it (use the pillars to block its first volley of rockets), grab the super shotgun, and use that to kill it from the window looking out from the plasma gun area, which is pretty safe but also tedious. Maybe you can also grab the BFG and use that against it, but I didn't try.

The second cyberdemon is in a tiny room with an arch-vile and a bunch of low-tier monsters. Not getting rocketed while blinded by the arch-vile is largely down to luck, at least for me. One thing you can try (not demonstrated in this demo) is to land a shot and then immediately back out of the room through the teleporter, then returning to the room to repeat the process until the cyberdemon's dead. This has the advantage of minimizing your exposure to the cyberdemon, as well as luring the other enemies out so they can be dealt with separately (the cyberdemon can't follow), but there is some chance that on subsequent visits the cyberdemon will rocket you immediately before you can get out.

The arch-viles at the end are a real slap in the face if you don't know they're coming, but aren't too bad if you're prepared. I pretty badly screwed up my BFG shots this time (I was scared of repeating a previous attempt where I waited too long to get behind cover and got blasted to death), but it was still good enough to get the situation under control.

I spent most of my time on this level practicing these three sections and didn't have the rest of the level well-rehearsed. You may be able to tell that I kind of forgot what I was doing at times. =P
