Final Fantasy 13-2 (No Monsters, No Items) Ep. 15 - Cauis (Solo Serah)
10This is a very tricky fight that you need to carefully map out. To begin with, you want to start with sentinel using Steelguard to get through the opening assault. You typically know he's done attacking after he uses Pulsar. Steelguard is important because it prevents cauis from launching Serah into the air, and also prevents heavy wound damage from building up.
Serah's turns consists of usually 3 turns before Cauis begins attacking again. The first turn of that is usually spent using Cure. Although, sometimes when i have a particularly well timed steelguard round, I can skip healing. From there I want to always be sure to have my buffs applied. If I don't need to re-apply them I do wound damage.
Trying to build up any sort of guage is impossible here because Cauis will always break the Chain before you can get anything going.
Wound damage only gets me so far, and once Cauis reaches a certain point he Buffs himself, tries to de-buff you, and changes up his attack pattern to include more attacks. Once I've entered this stage of the fight, I have to change up how i steelguard. He has one fairly safe attack in his new pattern that wont interrupt or launch you, so once he starts that i cancel my steelguards and build up a fresh 5. This will allow me to survive through the the next few attacks and pulsar to follow. From here I heal for 1 turn then try applying poison to finish off the fight for me. Once it lands I'm able to finish off the fight with ruin.
