In Chapter 5: Dark Clouds, the imperials of Niflheim haven taken notice to your exploits, and try to trap you in Duscae while Noctis goes on the hunt for the blessings of the Gods.

In Final Fantasy XV, Engaging the Empire is the third and final major quest of Chapter 5: Dark Clouds. In this mission, Noctis and his pals must infiltrate an Empire base to get the Regalia back before it's too late.

As you leave the cave - two things will happen. A giant imperial ship will pass overhead, and Cindy will call to let you know that the Regalia is indeed being kept at an imperial base - likely the one that large ship is heading to. You’ll need to break in and steal it back, and that might involve fighting through a lot of the empire’s forces.

SURVEY ARACHEOLE STRONGHOLD

Now’s a good time to head back to Wiz Chocobo Post and make sure you’ve gotten the rental for some chocobos for at least a day longer - since the imperial outpost is on the other side of Duscae. Getting close to the outpost, you’ll see a large red flare shoot up from a tower, and the very air will shimmer with red waves. Probably not a good thing. When you arrive on the road outside, Ignis will suggest resting at a nearby camp to devise a strategy.

Once again, there’s a camp right outside the outpost - Sothmocke Haven. Don’t forget to eat a good meal beforehand. Considering who you’re likely up against, it’s also worth it to equip some bullet resistant armor accessories if you have them.

During camp, Ignis will lay out a plan to scope out the place and infiltrate during the night. You must finish this by morning, or the operation will be a bust, and you’ll have to escape and wait for night again. He'll make a big fuss about not being seen ever - but things rarely go as planned, right?

INFILTRATE THE BASE

You’ll begin outside the main road to the base near some large storage containers. The road up ahead is crawling with soldiers - and you cannot afford to be spotted, but that doesn’t mean you can’t kill. Follow Ignis to the left and wait as two troopers up on the road patrol by. Ignis will give a signal for you to warp strike to instantly kill a trooper from behind - so assassinate the trooper ahead, then quickly look right to warp-strike the next trooper.

Note that there are a few collectible items to find in this base - but if you're strapped for time or in risk of getting seen, consider coming back after the mission ends to loot the place.
Be warned, as though the spotlights won’t automatically trigger an alarm - they do make a habit of following you and may give your position away - and inside the base that can complicate things, so stay away from the light when possible. Head inside the main entrance to the base and move to the right, and take cover while large Magitek Armor mechs pass by. If you are able to cross to the small gatehouse on the left, you can grab a Muscle Stimulant inside.

From here, move right until you come to two more Imperial Troopers. Again you’ll have to assassinate them, but be wary of a third off to the right. If you don’t take out the trooper heading up to the third man quickly enough, you’ll be spotted trying to attack and will have to clear the area before any alarms sound. Despite the warnings, it's pretty hard to alert anyone else outside of the immediate threat - but the bonus AP for taking them all out silently is worth shooting for. There's also another small building here with a Reflex Booster inside.

With this patrol out of the way, go down the road past the powered down mechs to a gate with red beams - and a keypad you can use to unlock the gate. If you want, check behind the covered containers next to the gate to find a Mythril Shaft behind.
