Final Fantasy 4 (Super Famicom) - Golbez, Clad in Darkness (MSX AY-3-8910+Konami SCC+ Cover)
While I've never played the classic Super Famicom turn-based RPG Final Fantasy 4 (or Final Fantasy 2 as it was known originally to westerners playing on the Super Nintendo), I have listened to the game's entire soundtrack, which is nothing short of spectacular (what a shocker /s /lh). One of my favorite songs from the game is the powerfully harrowing track "Golbez, Clad in Darkness" with its haunting organ and string chords and grandiose energy. I couldn't exactly decide what I wanted to work on yesterday, so I thought I'd whip up a chiptune cover in tildearrow's Furnace tracker today, settling on Golbez, Clad in Darkness and using the MSX's AY-3-8910 plus Konami's SCC+ sound expansion. This is my first time making a chiptune with tempo changes, which turned out to be fairly easy when messing with the clock speed. I also utilized a sheet music transcription of the song made back in 2008 by Jamie Calame (https://youtu.be/z2kuSHI2hlM) to assist me with getting all the notes right. I'm definitely happy with how this turned out, and I hope you guys enjoy it. ^w^
