Yellow Magic Orchestra - Technopolis (Famicom Disk System 2A03+2C33 Cover) (Version 2)
Of all the chiptune covers I've made as of November 2022, my Famicom Disk System cover of Yellow Magic Orchestra's 1979 techno masterpiece Technopolis that I made back in May 2021 is easily the cover that I'm the most dissatisfied with. I had only been putting out chiptune covers for about a month at that point, and I clearly wasn't ready to tackle Technopolis yet with how primitive it sounded. I tried to salvage it with a Famicom 2A03+MMC5 cover of Technopolis a month after, but it still sounded incredibly jarring (in some spots it sounds even worse m). It's a massive shame that I did such a pitiful job with Technopolis because I consider it one of the greatest songs ever made, and I wanted to go back and properly do Technopolis justice with a much better FDS cover utilizing a far better understanding of FamiTracker (or Dn-FamiTracker in this instance), the 2A03, the 2C33, and using music trackers in general. I never found the time to do so until now, but MAN was it worth the wait (I also had the assistance of a fantastic Mega Drive cover of Technopolis made by Flosk that I discovered on Spotify recently (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CGkuXPrG20?t=0s))! I'm extremely happy with how this remake of the cover turned out, and I hope you guys have a blast listening to it (all I need to do now is remake my FDS cover of Above the Horizon from Gradius 2; that's the other cover I need to go back to)! ^w^
Wait! One more thing! I'm including a bonus in the downloads! Shortly after I released my recent review of Nintendo World Cup (NES), I made myself a volume chart to use with Furnace, and I decided to port the 2A03+MMC5 cover of Harrier Saga that I did back in September to the Konami Bubble System in Furnace to test the chart out. I really like how it turned out, so I'm treating you guys to it as well. ;3
UPDATE 04-03-2023: It was announced yesterday that Ryuichi Sakamoto, the composer of Technopolis and one of the founding members of Yellow Magic Orchestra, recently passed away at the age of 71 on March 28th, 2023. His contributions to music will forever be cherished, and the world will forever miss him. 🙏
