Final Fantasy 7 - gil overflow and fastest chocobo
https://www.patreon.com/ulillillia --- Gil, in Final Fantasy 7, is stored as an unsigned 32-bit integer. This means the maximum possible amount of gil that can be held is exactly 4,294,967,295. In previous playthroughs, I stopped at around 1.4 billion and got bored of the game. This time, I not only roughly tripled my record, I even overflowed the gil. Whenever I could, I would multitask, since 90% of the gil accumulation routine has either minimal, simple user input or is fully automated. I was, for a good chunk of the time, working on graphics, typing design document stuff, or even eating while playing because so little interaction is needed. This got me a massive boost on the gil front and I put a lot more focus into getting gil than I usually did, such as accumulating it at a rate of almost 1 million per minute. And even more shocking... storywise, I only just got the submarine and I'm supposed to visit Junon. The crater has the dome over it, making entry not possible as I'm not far enough in for that. I haven't gotten W-summon or W-item yet as I haven't gotten to those places yet or haven't gotten far enough in for it to be possible.
The video starts off showing my setup, which is mostly unchanged from the previous video where I was working on maxing out magic and spirit. I have 10 mastered Knights of Round materia. I also have a bunch of mastered alls and other such things. I then sell enough stuff to try to get as close to that 4,294,967,295 figure as possible without going over. If it's about to go over, use something else, even things that only sell for 1 gil. Boom, maxed, exactly! I then race my fastest chocobo which shows that crazy long number. I delete out most of the waiting, leaving 5 seconds after crossing the finish line then 5 seconds before the others cross. If you don't want to see the races, skip to 39 minutes into the video as that's when the rest of the overflow stuff resumes. After enough wins on S rank, for which I need to recharge stamina only for the long course just for the thrill of the absurd speed, I get the special set of stuff that comes from that, most of which is useless. At the very end, I show what happens when you try to sell stuff to go over the limit. Selling items versus materia have very different behaviors!
