Final Fantasy 7 - over 2.2 billion gil
https://www.patreon.com/ulillillia --- I can confirm that gil is not a signed 32 bit integer because 2.21 billion cannot be represented using such a variable type. A 32-bit unsigned integer, however, does fit that. Now... what happens if I exceed 4,294,967,295 gil, the limit of an unsigned 32-bit integer? Will it overflow to 0 or will I be able to continue beyond that, from it being a 64-bit integer? I very highly doubt a 64-bit integer would be used so I think it would just overflow to 0.
How am I getting such a ridiulcous amount of gil, and so quickly? When you get the huge materia from Fort Condor, finishing that battle, you can buy "all" materia. This is the key to the process. An all sells for 1.4 million gil when it's mastered and it only takes 35,000 AP to master it. That is a 40:1 gil:AP ratio, the highest in the game. Each enemy in Mideel Forest gives 80 AP. That means, in a way, each enemy gives 3200 extra gil on top of the roughly 900 normally given (a rough average). 3200 may not seem like much, but if you look at my materia setup, you can very quickly see how this escalates. I have 4 alls on Yuffie's double growth weapon so that's like the equivalent of 8. Just from Yuffie's weapon alone, that's now 25,600 AP per enemy, before the regular drop. Cid's Javelin is 5 slots of double growth and is filled with nothing but alls, making it the equivalent of 10. Then, for both Yuffie and Cid, their entire 8-slot normal growth armor is nothing but alls. That's 16 more on top of the 18 equivalent from the weapons for 34 across those 2 characters. In addition, I have 5 additional alls on Cloud. This means I have a total equivalent of 39 alls. At 40 gil per AP and 80 AP per enemy, that's a staggering 124,800 gil per enemy just from materia alone. The 900 that the enemies regularly give seems like next to nothing compared to that huge amount. However, it doesn't quite come out exact though as, often times, I end up with a little AP going to waste, roughly about 125 or so, roughly 0.3%. Thus, take 0.3% out of 124,800 and you get 124,425.6. Add in the 900 and that's 125,325.6. For the sake of simplicity, we can just call this grand total 125,000.
Each battle in Mideel Forest doesn't have just one enemy at a time though. It's always 3 or 4. This means it's either 240 AP or 320 AP, either 375K or 500K gil per battle. Using a rough average of the batch of 4 showing up 1/3 of the time, and simplifying, that's about 420K gil per battle. Each battle lasts about 32 seconds. This means, in a way, I'm getting the equivalent of 787,500 gil per minute. However, I still need to swap out the mastered materia and ultimately sell it and save every now and then, which takes up a bit of time. This can be adjusted to 780K per minute, for simplicity.
I could put 3 alls into Cloud's triple growth weapon and make the process even faster, pushing close to 1 million gil per minute, but, instead, I'm using it to master AP-intensive materia like Knights of Round and most other high end summons or materia like quadra magic. The other 3 slots on Cloud's normal growth materia are required for speeding up this process. With a mastered pre-emptive, I don't get back attacks at all. In fact, because I maxed dexterity, the enemies almost never get to strike at all. From working on maxing strength, I one-shot everything. With maxed luck, flash is guaranteed to cause instant death to these Mideel Forest enemies and most hits are a critical hit. Flash actually speeds up battles by 800 milliseconds. Enemy lure is needed to reduce the amount of time required to get another encounter. (Note: instead of slash all, mega all can be used, but I'm not far enough into the game to access that - I'm supposed to be going to Junon then Midgar via the Highwind.)
What's more is that, by giving Cloud (in this case for me) the fury ring, I can literally just wait out battles. I maxed the battle speed as, as soon as the bar fills, which is almost instant, attack is used, which hits everything. The enemies still do get an attack in, but it can be more than an hour between instances when this happens. Because I can wait out battles, I can work on other things on the side, making for very efficient multitasking. I only just need to move about within the forest itself until I get an encounter, or bring up the menu any time I see "•%s was born" and replace any mastered materia. When the materia list gets too long, I just step into Mideel and sell the mastered alls.
What's next? I'm going to get it so that gil lands exactly on then I'll showcase this in another video, including racing a 176-speed chocobo, then collecting that 1 extra gil and seeing it likely drop to 0.
