00:00 - Now we've levelled up some key Materia, to break up the level and Materia grinding, we're going to take on the toughest bosses in the game. Make your way out of the Crater and back to Highwind.

03:08 - First we need the Underwater Materia, although this isn't essential, it's definitely worth the effort of obtaining. If you haven't already, you have to get the Guide Book Key Item by Morphing a Ghost Ship enemy in the glass tunnel area at the Junon Underwater Reactor. You then head to Kalm and speak to the Kalm Traveler who will trade you an Underwater Materia for the Guide Book.

04:30 - Once we have got this, head to the forest area at Mideel and spend the time getting your party member's limit break bar to the top. The reason I've gone with Cloud, Cid and Yuffie is they all have a limit break that will hit the enemy multiple times rather than just once for a max of 9999. For this reason set Yuffie's limit break to level 3 for Doom of the Living.

13:00 - Once you're ready, head to the submarine. There are a few things to note about Emerald Weapon before you attempt to start the battle. The first is that you will have 20 minutes to complete the battle unless they have the Underwater Materia equipped. With one million HP, it will more than likely take longer than the 20 minutes to it's worth having.

The second is it's Aire Tam Storm attack. This attack deals damage to each character equal to the amount of Materia equipped on them multiplied by 1,111. For example, having nine Materia or more equipped on a character means it will be able to defeat your party in one hit with this attack. It's therefore crucial that you limit the amount of materia equipped.

Emerald follows a specific attack pattern. After using a random number of Emerald Shoots, which deal a few thousand damage to each of it's targets, it uses a physical attack, hitting the party for thousands of damage. It will then use Emerald Shoot and Emerald Beam, and will revive its eyes, which use magical attacks that hit for thousands of damage to HP when they are blue or hundreds of damage to MP when they are orange.

If you are to attack Emerald's main body at this point in a way that is not a Limit Break or a Bahamut summon, it will retaliate with Revenge Stamp, which is similar to its physical attack. Destroying the eyes prevents Revenge Stamp and restarts the pattern, but otherwise Emerald simply casts Emerald Beam again and then uses Aire Tam Storm. He then alternates between the Beam and Aire Tam Storm until either dying, or having its eyes destroyed.

After using Revenge Stamp ten times, Emerald Weapon will use Emerald Beam and Emerald Shoot both half as often, and after reaching Aire Tam Storm, will use it over and over again. Emerald Weapon also uses Aire Tam Storm as a counterattack to Knights of the Round, so although the knights will destroy the eyes, summoning them will not prevent Aire Tam Storm.

13:20 - The equipment set up I went for was - Cloud - Weapon - Ultimate Weapon, Armour - Mystile and Accessory - Sprint Shoes. For Cid - Weapon - Venus Gospel, Armour - Mystile and Accessory - Tough Ring. For Yuffie - Weapon - Conformer, Armour - Mystile and Accessory - Sprint Shoes.

For Materia set up I went with Cloud - Gravity Materia paired in a linked slot with Quadra Magic, a mastered HP Plus, a full Enemy Skill Materia and HP Absorb paired in a linked slot with Mime.

For Cid - Counter Materia paired with Mime in a linked slot, Underwater Materia, a masted HP Plus and Restore Materia paired with All.

For Yuffie - Mime paired with Counter Materia in a linked slot, Mastered Double Cut and Mastered HP Plus and Final Attack Materia paired with Phoenix Summon in a linked slot.

14:20 - When you are prepared to begin, get in the submarine and crash into Emerald Weapon underwater to start the battle.

The tactic was this is to spam the parties Limit Break and use Mime to replicate Yuffie's Double Cut attack which should be hitting for nearly 40,000 a time. Start by casting Big Guard and Regen, use your limit breaks and have Cid Mime either Yuffie's 4x Cut or Cloud's Quadra Magic - Gravity combo which should also be hitting for nearly 40,000. Just remember to cure using White Wind, Cure 3 or items in between to keep yourself healed. Remember to cast Big Guard and Regen when they run out.

Just keep chipping away with your 40,000 HP attacks per turn and make sure you keep healing after big attacks. Not using Knights of the Round means you shouldn't be faced with the annoying Aire Tam Storm very often, if at all, and Final Attack/Phoenix will bring your party back to life if you do die.

31:55 - At the end of the battle, you will receive 50,000 experience points, 50,000 AP and the Earth Harp Key Item.
