Final Fantasy II (old iOS): Tips - Slap Yourself Silly and Aggro Teleport
So much crazy stuff I learned to help tolerate this game. Surprisingly the lame palette swaps help indicate easy difficulty and you should physically attack them or buff yourself in the beginning by slapping yourself with weakened multitargeting magic (all have cure, one element per character worked for me; taking 5 damage to possibly gain 12 HP was huge).
Semitt Falls does have teleport (you stupidly lose HP to critical outside battle but this is supposed to help make you level cure by revisiting and recasting) at the end, but it really is better to prep and level it before or while going there if playing a version without arcane labyrinth.
Surprisingly, shields do help early game (if not going unarmed/using a flame bow given Maria's regular bow is unplayable and she should be moved to front row to gain hp) even if they weaken attack, as you can get hit hard in tough battles and you're not relying on physical attack to get far in this game.
At teleport level 5, you can one shot those unbeatable captains who drop flame bows, golden armor (which sell for 2000 and 1000 Gil respectively) and tomes (which can be used for mid level spells instead of wasting time leveling something you use occasionally, like protect, which can also miss at low levels).
Minwu starts with teleport so if you are daring early game, you can try with him, and save scum after every battle. This also carries over to soul of rebirth which is a unique party of the dead.
The 2 battles at the end were in the arcane labyrinth (a literal keyword dungeon with some puzzle dialogue, this one being airship) not in the pixel remaster; it's a good stress test as you have to cancel at the gate to save and some random battles spike (you should save in overworld after every battle in unfamiliar territory to keep those stat gains should you accidentally go into a dead zone). In arcane labyrinth it helps to get all chests and exit to save, with revisiting to break the seal and go to the next word of the day.
0:00 Start off multicasting yourself for weaker damage to survive and stat/magic buffs
0:44 Heal your hp for inns to charge less to rest only MP.
1:30 Buy/Level Up Teleport in Salamand instead of buying weapons/armor. You can one shot enemies and bosses with luck.
1:52 Helldiver - Physical attacks (without late game bypassing defense) are worthless and having one caster per element speeds up magic leveling.
2:26 Teleport level 4 cast - proficiency works better and improves animation
3:00 Phosrusracos shows that you don't want to multitarget anything strong outside teleport. You can also gamble and single target the same enemy while hopefully it hits the others.
