Final Fantasy II Peninsula of Power and Chocobo Shortcut to Mysidia Upgrades
This peninsula of power has stronger encounters for high risk high reward (several thousand Gil per battle) in early game due to a terrain overlap from random encounters (FF2 it is more convenient as you don’t even have to go past the first town though you will die as I struggled even after blowing up dreadnought and unequipping Gordon who rotates out of the party) as a cool bug. Unfortunately, it was taken out of the pixel remaster (you can emulate the gba/psp versions for unique additions as origins for ps1 has load times and doesn’t have soul of rebirth/arcane labyrinth). This is the old mobile version, which is similar to PSP.
It seems holy is pretty mediocre (at low levels) even to undead, so you may want to avoid paying 20,000 Gil (if you can't afford everything) in Mysidia given knight’s armor and ice bow are 5000 Gil and power staff is 8000 Gil. I do recommend having at least 1200-1500 HP before doing this challenge, or simply bypass most and have a 4th party member with Leila and her ship to freely travel with weaker underwater enemies (and her proficiency for knives allows her high evasion growth with a main gauche equipped). I do feel a picture of the world map is better than the game.
I learned you can even do this with double shielded minwu (you will block more with no need to physical attack, let alone back row means less targeting) spamming teleport (at least level 4 for captains and peninsula of power) on whatever strong enemy is not being targeted by the rest of the party, and of course saving after every successful battle, with a separate save slot for this trek (buy cottages to refill mp for the way back, and the thief's gloves are the cheapest armor).
I also discovered that equipping an effect sword like ancient sword, sleep blade or blood sword in the non-dominant hand (usually right though Leila is left handed and her ship makes for easier travel than one way chocobo) makes it more accurate (you’re causing curse, sleep and drain rather than doing a ton of damage and this finally makes dual wield useful though a shield is better before given you one shot easy enemies and cast spells vs stronger).
I hope this guide helps as I couldn’t find anything like my experience here to skip a lot of frustration in this rewarding gauntlet (which console remaster of course turns off encounters to date my video lol and they wont update mobile/steam), that is better than teleporting the captain and selling 2000 Gil flame bows (axes, unarmed and staves are useless late game, and the dungeon adter mysidia in the plot already has most of what you bought outside holy).
