I honestly should have made them Freelancers cause had I maxed out every single job, I'd be strong enough for what's ahead.
So it comes to this now huh? The final boss himself: Exdeath.
Exdeath is a two-phase boss fight. Phase 1 just focus on Exdeath who has become one large tree. Thing is, you don't have the Cannoneer job so Chaos Cannon is out. Instead you'll have to focus on boosting your defenses with Mighty Guard, Hastega, Golem, etc. Have your offensive units focus on attacking Exdeath with Rapid Fire. Once he goes down then the second phase begins as the Void consumes him and he becomes Neo Exdeath.
Neo Exdeath is an annoying boss fight and unless you are better prepared, expect to get outright wrecked. I should have made the team become freelancers which would help a lot. Neo Exdeath has four targets to take down and he has nasty attacks that can wipe your whole party out. Have one party member with Rapid Fire while another specializes in powerful group spells and summons. The rest center on healing and support. If it's followed in this manner, he'll go down.
With Neo Exdeath finally defeated, the threat is finally come to pass. But it's also revealed that as long as the four essences reside within mankind, the crystals will return. Oh and depending on whoever survives, the ending is changed. Fortunately everyone survived so we get the best ending. Bartz along with many allies watch as the crystal shards that they've held onto fly off. In turn, the four Crystals are reborn in the merged world. Not only that but their world is restored and the many towns that were sucked into the Void return.
The previous Warriors of Light head off into the afterlife, entrusting the world they saved to the Warriors of Dawn. Galuf, King Tycoon, Dorgann, Xezat and Kelger become a wyvern taking the gang back to the world as their journey finally comes to a close. Krile writes a letter to Cid & Mid detailing what had happened since then and she hopes that they would see everyone again. Ultimately they do in the Tree of Moore. Bartz, Lenna, Faris and Krile ride off.
And that my friends is Final Fantasy V, the Pixel Remaster. Honestly, I had a lot of fun with the game but at times it can be unfair. Yes, seriously. The Job System is a big improvement from FF3 and the multi-classing really lets you customize your party however you want. But it's still a hard game and one that I truly enjoy. If you want a good experience, I recommend playing Final Fantasy V Advance. I mean it. It's the best version of FFV, hands down.
With Final Fantasy V complete, that makes five Final Fantasy games. There's one to go so next time we meet, we'll be moving onto the best of the SNES era and the last of the 2D Final Fantasy era. See you in Final Fantasy VI.
