Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster #005, Return to Narshe; Locke in South Figaro: Celes

Previously, the party scaled Mt. Kolts. When they confronted Vargas, they also joined forces with Edgar's twin brother, Sabin. Then, they reached the Returners' Hideout and met Banon. Unfortunately, the Empire had just invaded South Figaro. While Locke went to hinder the Empire, Terra, Edgar, Sabin, and Banon fled down Lethe River on a raft. They had their first run-in with Ultros, but Sabin got separated from the others. We can now play through three scenarios in any order: (1) Terra, Edgar, and Banon; (2) Locke; and (3) Sabin. In this video, we will start with the Terra, Edgar, and Banon scenario, which is short. Then, we will carry out the Locke scenario, which is a bit longer.
Scenario Selection:
We resume in control of Mog on the Scenario Selection screen. He examines Terra, Edgar, and Banon to start their scenario. The goal is to get to Arvis in Narshe.
Lethe River (time 0:38):
The party is still riding the rapids of Lethe River. There is no opportunity to adjust the party's rows or equipment at the start.
The monster selection is the same as before. The priority remains to keep Banon alive. Banon should use Pray constantly. While Edgar attacks with Auto Crossbow, Terra can roast the enemies with Fire.
Banon reaches Level 9.
Terra reaches Level 11. Edgar reaches Level 12.
After a short ride, the party exits the river.
Overworld (time 2:41):
The party gains control at a lake east of Narshe. They head west and enter Narshe.
Narshe (time 3:05):
As the party approaches the archway leading into town, a scene takes place. Unfortunately, Narshe's guards will not let them in. The party will have to find another way.
The party enters the Adventuring School and heals with the bucket in the lobby.
West of the town entrance, the party examines the recessed rock wall to the north. This triggers an event. They find the secret entrance. They go through into the mines.
Narshe Mines (time 4:34):
The party starts on floor 1F. They follow the path northeast and take the door outside.
Narshe (time 5:07):
The party emerges on the town's western slopes. They follow the path west and up some stairs. Then, they reenter the mines.
Narshe Mines (time 5:20):
The party arrives on floor 2F. A couple of new monster types can be encountered here: Valeor and Wild Rat. Wild Rat is a tougher palette swap of the Wererat found earlier in the game.
Banon reaches Level 10.
The party takes the northwest exit to floor 3F. As they step forward, a light traces a circuitous route through the area. They must follow the light exactly, or they will have to fight some guards.
The party follows the route and takes the door to the next area. They are in the zone where Terra fell during her escape.
A short way to the northeast, the party takes the next exit to the south. They reach floor 2F. This is the area where Locke and the Moogles defended Terra. Nothing so epic happens here now.
The party goes north. In the next room, they find the Moogles' lair! Kupo! Sadly, Mog will not join the party just yet.
In the western hallway, there is a treasure chest. Trust me, you do NOT want to collect it permanently yet! The party makes a Quick Save before opening it for a Rune Blade. Meh. Then, the party reloads. Much later in the game, this treasure chest will have a Ribbon if left alone.
In the southwest, the party takes the exit up to floor 3F. To the south, the party makes another Quick Save before opening the chests to show their contents. The chests contain a Sleeping Bag and a Phoenix Down. In other words, they have not updated yet. So, the party reloads.
The party goes southeast past the save point and exits the mines.
Narshe (time 11:23):
The party takes the bridge east. Before they enter Arvis's house, Terra and Edgar remove their relics.
The party enters Arvis's house. As they leave the bedroom, a scene with Arvis takes place. This ends Terra, Edgar, and Banon's scenario.
Scenario Selection (time 13:08):
We return to Mog on the Scenario Selection screen. Mog selects Locke to begin his scenario. It is time for Locke to escape from South Figaro before he is captured and unkind things are done to him.
