As you scale Mt. Kolts, Vargas will be blocking the path to a cave and challenge you to a duel. During the battle, Vargas is accompanied by a pair of Ipoohs. Vargas cannot be attacked unless you get rid of both Ipoohs first. Once the Ipoohs are gone, turn your attention over to Vargas. Vargas can sometimes move twice per turn, where he will use the gale claws to attack the entire party. After doing enough damage, the Monk will help out in battle, but Vargas will perform an icy fist to remove all from battle except for the Monk, who has to go it alone. Vargas will then cast a doom spell, giving you only one minute left to defeat Vargas before game over. After the Monk performs a rage fist technique, Vargas will retreat, and you can explore more of the mountain.
