This month's Pixel Mixers contest theme is an unusual one, requiring us to cover a piece in a different style. A few months ago I was toying around on the piano and realized the "Cloister of Trials" theme was simple enough to adapt into different genres, and originally I was going to make it a waltz. But after the June contest theme was announced, I decided a tango would be more interesting and would fit the theme perfectly. Arranging something in a completely different style like this was a new experience for me, and it was a lot of fun. Hopefully it fits enough criteria for a tango--I believe the basic rhythm is more of an habanera, but I tried to incorporate triplets, syncopation, and 3+3+2 rhythms that I believe are characteristic of Argentine tangos.
