Now it's time to fight like men! And women! And women who dress like men! It's not Morphing Time for Gilgamesh, but it's definitely time for an epic fight! Or two, to be exact!

Gilgamesh's hunt is petitioned by Montblanc himself, and you'll encounter the man on a big bridge in the Lhusu Mines, I doubt anyone with some experience of the series is surprised to find him in such a spot!
The fight on the bridge isn't extremely hard, Gilgamesh fights alongside his faithful sidekick Enkidu, so start by taking him out to leave the man on his own. In terms of fighting, he'll stick to single target physical attacks for most of the fight, pulling out a new sword everytime you take off 20% of his HP.
Now, here's the tricky part, him pulling out a new sword also gives him new items to steal, the first three aren't anything special, but you'll definitely want the Genji Shield and Gloves you can get when he's between 40 and 20% and 20 and 0% HP respectively.
When he gets to 20% HP, he'll also use Perfect Defense making himself invincible for roughly two minutes, he'll also take this chance to use a new attack, Ultimate Illusion, which damages your entire party quite a bit.
Once you beat him, and hopefully stole the two pieces of Genji Gear, he flees deeper into the mines...

And should you pursue him there, you'll find much more powerful monsters, I waited until post-game to do that one, so don't be surprised to see my team being much more powerful for the second part.
Gilgamesh and Enkidu are also more powerful, and the man brings new abilities to the table, namely Level 2 Sleep, Level 3 Disable and Level 4 Break, so try to either have your levels in a range that makes you immune to those or bring accessories to protect you from them.
He also uses a new attack, Bitter End, which hits multiple characters for big damage, and eventually, when he's below 20%,
he'll make himself Invincible and use Monarch Sword, his ultimate attack, which thankfully only hits one character, but will likely KO them unless they have Protect.
He also has the Genji Helmet and Armor to steal, so don't forget about those!
Winning against him allows you to grab the Masamune from a chest in the room, and Montblanc will give you the useless Excalipur!
