The first Chocobo race I had a clue what I was doing in lol, recorded moments after the patch came out. This is in the Maiden: Tranquil Paths. So the third beginner track basically.

I really enjoyed racing more than I thought I would. It's fast paced and at least early on still gives decent MGP provided you do ok.

It's interesting how it works too. The Chocobo has an HP bar and if they run out of it they'll be stunned for a bit, items can damage the Chocobo, you can grab and unleash items to sabotage the other racers or power your Chocobo up, hit sprint pads to gain speed, etc.

Just the thing that may throw you off the most is the controls at least the keyboard take some getting used to. Your Chocobo doesn't immediately go left or right that easily so plan to move towards items and beneficial things in advance.

Stamina is the biggest thing. Accelerating eats it up and if you accelerate too much you'll be lathered draining stamina even faster until you let go of accelerate for a bit. Managing you stamina makes all the difference. So at first being conservative with it can help but near the end when the race is about to be over you may as well go full acceleration.

I haven't gotten much into the stats element of it though. It does sound like once you get higher on such things will matter way more and breeding Chocobos to get the best one will be a thing. That part is what I'm not exactly excited for but eh as far as the actual races go I enjoy them.

Lastly my Chocobo's name was made by the RNG but I kept it and it fits lol. Princess Flocke has a bright career!
