Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn Unlocking Triple Triad
8This is the quest to unlock Triple Triad. First you need to complete the Level 15 quest It Could Happen to You Ul'dah–Steps of Nald X:9 Y:9 NPC: Well-Heeled Youth.
That quest grants access to the Gold Saucer and requires players to have cleared: The Gridanian Envoy, The Ul’dahn Envoy," or "The Lominsan Envoy depending on which city you started in. So if you're a new player you need to do that first.
Once you arrive at the Gold Saucer, be sure to exchange your gil for MGP which you'll need to play in almost all of the activities there, The Gold Saucer attendant at X:4 Y:6 is whom you want to see to get MGP.
To start, the NPC you'll want is the Triple Triad Master at X:4 Y:7. Talk to her to begin Triple Triad Trial which will give you the cards you need to make a deck. Then beat her in the tutorial battle it's really simple and she explains it nicely. Of course there's more to the game than that but it's good for the basics.
Do note the cards require open inventory slots to use them first and then you make a deck and all that. The new Gold Saucer tab is where you'll manage your Triple Triad decks from and where the cards get stored once used.
Pretty cool stuff so far. You can get more cards by beating NPCs, tournaments and dungeon drops. The drop rates and locations are unknown yet since the patch is still only like two hours old at the time of this recording.
Also unlike FF8 you do NOT lose cards when you lose. So no pressure really it's just MGP on the line and MGP is pretty easy to get with all these different activities awarding it in the Gold Saucer.
So yeah I'll be making some vids on this soon. Probably starting with beating all the NPCs first or maybe I'll run some dungeons if the drops are reliable to get a more interesting deck.
