finalRender Drop3 - BATTLE of the AI
Battle of the AI! Is Cyberdyne Systems near? Is this the end of our world as we know it?
Edwin Braun finalRender Drop 3 features video shows you how to take advantage of the machine (computer) you have and still do great renderings and denoising.
Yes! With finalRender Drop 8 CPU OPEN Intel Denoiser trueHybridTM, cebas lets you know that we are committed to giving you a futuristic hybrid option too lasts!
NOTE: the benchmark scene/image in this video is created solely for demo purposes with lots of extra noises for testing. And Edwin uses a ridiculous 64 iterations/ passes to illustrate our point.
RENDER SETUP: finalRender- GPU settings (CUDA devices), you will see both GPU & CPU at work.
TEST #1: Denoise on GPU checked. Amazing fast 64 passes gives out reasonably well done denoising.
TEST # 2: Intel Denoiser (CPU) pretty similar results! And only on CPU rendering. Again, you select this from option : Denoise CPU. Pretty good rendering time altho keep in mind this is a simple image for testing purposes. However, look at the clock face, not properly Denoised. Of course, with a less noisy image, things will work out well.
** Most Denoise process will face some issues with glass-like objects or surfaces. Say, if we turn OFF the Glass face of the clock. Now, without the glass surface, the denoising is well done. This demo is on Nvidia GPU Denoiser.
Let's try for Intel CPU - not bad at all.
** Investigating transparent objects/ surfaces - how denoising affects the details and transparency. **

* AI Denoiser Post-Filter *
Note: you can also 'Add' denoising after-the-fact, that is after rendering. This is to avoid overloading your system. Do this by selecting under DENOISE MENU OPTIONS: Engine GPU or CPU. Denoise: Enable / Disable.
When you add denoising after-the-fact? This really depends on what you have as the image complexity - and your machine.
AI - DENOISER POST-FILTER GPU vs RENDER CPU View the test and at render time here, the Denoiser gets more info input such as Surface normal, illumination.... but if you do After-the-Fact these information may not be captured so be aware. After-the-fact Denoising is based solely on the pixel noise detected.
For simpler, less complicated images - Add Denoising may just be the twig for you.
ACTIVE SHADE & AI DENOISING
SETUP: valued Subscribers of finalRender will soon see cebas have very clever ways of supporting Active Shade Denoising. In this demo, we turn ON GPU & CPU / hybrid and GPU Denoising so, we have now both CPU + GPU trueHybrid rendering and we denoise using GPU - see great feedback, updates, zoom +- works great.
** Interesting point for DROP 3: cebas gives you greater hardware setup choices than any other renderer in the market today.
Setup choices:
Test #1:
CPU + GPU DENOISER
Results: of course, now with CPU Denoising - updates move slightly slower. Still, the results are not too bad. Except it is a heavy load on the machine.
Test #2 : CPU RENDERING + GPU DENOISER ( GeForce)
Great for those whose GPU card is not the latest! See ultrafast! Passes flies in wirg great feedback and kicks in instantly since now your CPU machine is not overloaded. Denoising passes on top of the rendering.
Test #3 : CPU RENDER + CPU DENOISER
Great for those without GPU. finalRender is trueHybrid so it works perfectly! No need Nvidia card. A bit of a lag but other than that, works like a charm.
Test #4: GPU RENDER + GPU DENOISER
Turn OFF CPU completely from Select Devices, scroll to CPU device info - uncheck. You see in demo amazing speed. Although now this demo in test 4, your GPU machine is processing both the rendering and the denoising and there is a slight slowing.
Edwin Braun finds that for his system, optimal is achieve with a combo of GPU Rendering + CPU (Intel) Denoising - Instant feedback and you can change materials, zoom +-, adjust lights, all with instant feedback.
Don't hesitate. Try the cebas unlimited free trial. While most renderers are now getting there, you have cebas finalRender and full trueHybrid support.
