finalToon Tutorial: Transparent objects
- what to consider when doing scenes with transparent objects.
- finalToon can render hidden lines or occluded lines.
- finalToon is a true line renderer, handles transparence or reflections / refractions.
- line changes to the orientation of the object, or the camera viewport.
- G-buffering behind transparent objects are resolved with fToon.
- Properties - object made invisible to renderer - render again in fToon - line effect now is applied to both sides of the street.
- Material editor - street and bldg matls - default settings - adjustable lighting and shadows - highlight at 150% -
- finalToon edges on the matl bases - simple drag and drop instancing black line style thickness of 2.
- street matl same : setup different used thinner line styles so look distinct from the bldg line styles.
- transfer finalToon matl, not default - creative line styles - outline for glass obj e.g. window - get outline effects.
- fToon roll up menu - uncheck enable edges so that glass and window look thru feeling.
- Change opacity to 20% for transparent look.
- Solve problem of seeing lines thru glass or tinted glass - raise opacity 100%, no transparency one solid.
- overcome line renderer by refraction mapping, separate render pass rendering and then mapped onto obj by fToon.
- finalToon maps such as mirror / hatching - in another tut / refraction map for curved surfaces / wall refraction map....
- fToon magic added to wall refraction of 3ds Map for unique line rendering.
- Thickness offset to Zero
- simulate frost glass
- tinted glass effect lower 80%
- add bum map such as a cellular map. See image has a distorted line styles - creativity.
- creating line effects for two layers rendering
- thin wall refraction effect
- scanline rendering effect - ordering of objects play a big role.
- line rendering is view-dependent effect - separate rendering is required and scanline overcome restrictions.
- to get look through such as effect - refer 3ds Max scanline rendering - render dialog - auto reflect/refract - set higher iterations higher than 1 : see thru rendering effects.
