If the game built up this situation better, it could be really tense. You are traversing around the mind of a dying man, and this needn't be a terrifying or psychedelic experience for it to have a profound impact. Until we all deal with this ourselves someday, we can only imagine what those fleeting seconds and build-up to our ends would be like. However, it only serves a small effect for what takes place. Perhaps it was a good alternative, as the game could otherwise be ham-fisted, but I do think this was a situation that called for more emphasis than subtlety.
