This is the first chapter of a ranked playthrough of Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi, completed in 6 turns. This is my first ranked attempt of any game, so this will be something new for me.

My main reason for starting this was to actually work on creating a hack that tightens the ranking requirements for FE6, with no changes to the gameplay. The requirements of the vanilla game are extremely lenient, with it being very possible to achieve maximum ranks in half the turns the game expects you to do it in. Therefore, a change is definitely needed.

In this playthrough, I don't intend on using direct RNG manipulation unless absolutely necessary. I do change the order in which I attack with my units, in order to give me different RNG outcomes, which will be the main way to get better level ups and so on. Basically, I want this to be possible to replicate without resorting to extreme manipulation of any sort. Since the game does seed the RNG the same way every time you start the game, by following the exact moves you can duplicate the outcome I managed here.

On to the chapter itself. Marcus is primed to weaken all the units on the map for my other allies to finish off, so I try and set him up with as much enemy phase exposure as I can. My main goal in terms of experience is to spread it around as much as possible across the 5 Level 1 units. I don't want to be completely anal about it, but it does all count in the long term. I am especially mindful of getting Bors as much early game experience as possible, since with his low movement rate he'll see less combat overall and you do need to give every unit experience to meet the rank requirement.

I'm conscious of keeping Alan, Roy and Lance together as much as possible, since their support triangle is one of the better ones in the game. Weapon ranks aren't a huge issue in the long term, but I still try and give units the chance to gain something, even if it is just chip damage, it all helps. The Combat rank, which is based on the number of kills out of the number of total battles, isn't a huge worry either since later on I'll be able to ORKO with a lot more units.

I had to drag Bors all the way to the top of the map in order to get every kill here and still manage this map in 6 turns. Rather than pulling out the Silver Lance, I just have Marcus 3RKO the boss, Damas, with the Iron Sword, giving him a little more experience and saving the strong weapons for a place where I really need it (Chapter 4 springs to mind). Since Wolt was left with nothing to do, he collect the 5000 gold from the village.

I'll update this playthrough less often than my others, since I do have to put a lot of work into testing viable options in which to act and still complete the chapters fast.
