It is time to take on Lord Lonato and the Western Church in a fog of war map. Byleth's group is accompanied by Catherine, who wields a Hero's Relic known as Thunderbrand, which is a very powerful weapon in combat, but we shouldn't rely on Catherine too often, as we will need some experience for my other units in battle.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

Before starting the battle, we get some dialogue about Catherine's Hero's Relic called Thunderbrand, and we get a bit of backstory about Lonato, and why he rallied his troops against the Church of Seiros, and we hear about the Tragedy of Duscur, which the Blue Lions route does go over in full detail, but we do learn that the king of Faerghus was one of the people killed in the Tragedy of Duscur.
We get introduced to the fog of war, so I recommend giving Torches to some of your units to extend their sight range, as there are some enemies hidden in the fog, and they can attack unexpectedly.
Catherine fights alongside us as an NPC, and she has Thunderbrand, allowing her to attack twice when she enters battle, but it has a hit rate of 70, but it can hit up to four times, since Catherine will likely be faster than the Gaspard Soldiers, and you don't get any experience if she defeats any of them, so don't let Catherine steal any kills. She does have Sword Crit +10, which boosts her critical hit rate when she uses a sword, and she can use Foudroyant Strike with Thunderbrand, and I don't think she uses it on Hard, it is only on Maddening that she ever uses that Combat Art.
There is a Dark Mage with Miasma Δ, and he has Gaspard Archers for his Battalion, and he is a tough opponent, as he has good Resistance, and when you defeat him, that will remove the fog of war, and we get a cutscene where Lonato appears.
After the cutscene, it is time to take on Lonato and his troops, and some of the troops have Battalions, and they can try to stun your units with Gambits, so if you have a unit with a good Charm stat, like Edelgard, they should reduce the hit rate of enemy Gambits. Another thing is that Catherine will not fight Lonato, but her allies can, and he is a tough opponent as he is a Paladin with an Iron Lance and Javelin, and his Ability of General reduces the damage from Gambits by 50%, and it will protect him from instant death, and he has Gaspard Knights for his Battalion, which use Assault Troop for the Gambit.
If you have brought Ashe for this mission, he does have dialogue if you let him fight Lonato. He has good HP and Defense, and if you have any unit at C Rank in Lance, you can use Knightkneeler to get in some extra damage against Lonato, and after defeating him, if Catherine's allies survived, you get a Secret Book, which boosts Dexterity by 2 points, and a Goddess Icon, which boosts Luck by 4 points.
After the battle, we learn that the Gaspard Soldiers were civilians, and that Lonato had forced them to risk their lives, which does not seem noble for someone like him, and Edelgard tells us that she is kind of like Lonato, and is willing to risk the lives of civilians for a higher cause. Then Catherine shows us a letter that Lord Lonato had with him, and it is a plan to assassinate Rhea, so Byleth returns back to the Monastery and learn about the Rite of Rebirth, which is said to be an important event to the Church of Seiros, and we must help out with the security of the Monastery on that day.
