Bicester is once again home to a British Military Regiment as the process of moving service personnel, equipment and their families from Germany into St David’s Barracks, Bicester begins.

1 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps have left Princess Royal Barracks in Gütersloh, Germany and moved into their new residence in Bicester.

The preliminary part of their move began today (8th July) with the arrival of 18 military vehicles which heralds the start of a new military connection to the town, adding to its long history which already exists.

The 18 vehicles which arrived in two sets included Tankers, 15 & nine Ton Truck Cargo vehicles and Land Rovers.

The vehicles arrived in Marchwood, Southampton where they were unloaded before they began their 86 mile journey to their new home in Bicester.

At St David’s Barracks, Bicester the vehicles were welcomed by The Mayor of Bicester Councillor Jim French and personnel from 12 Squadron, 1 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps.

Captain Dalby of 12 Squadron said,

“This is extremely exciting times as the move from Germany takes place. Bicester will now see a constant flow of not only military vehicles but personnel and their families. The Regiment is most certainly looking forward to making Bicester its home.”
