The head of the Royal Air Force has told Forces TV the RAF may look to again extend the service of a Tornado squadron that was due to be disbanded last year.
When No. 2 Squadron was converted into a Typhoon squadron and moved to RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland, the old No. 2 Squadron at Marham was renamed as 12 Squadron and reprieved for a year so that it could take part in airstrikes against IS.
The Chief of the Air Staff’s comments came as the Chief of Defence Staff warned in a speech that the RAF is running at the limits of fast jet availability and capacity.
