So this is my first tiny little animation. 95% of the time was me trying to figure out a problem that had a simple solution, and trying to find a wav sound file in literally nearly eight thousand wav files that didn't end up existing, and the one I ended up using was more or less at the bottom of the list. My ears hurt from all the metal scratching and glass shattering SFX I had to sort through. The animation on its own, past troubleshooting and setting up SDK/SFM and finding out what all the sounds well, sound like, and looking up tutorials, took roughly 30 minutes. I still need to find a turret that blinks/moves its legs (i.e. Harry101UK type turrets).

The song is something that I wrote on a whim today. Yes, with autotune and a slight formant shift, I sound nearly exactly like a turret. I sound even more like GLaDOS. I'll probably write a full version later and animate it when I can.

Another definition of chimera, other than the weird animal hybrid thing, is "a thing that is hoped or wished for but in fact is illusory or impossible to achieve." (Source: Google Dictionary or whatever it is called). You know, like the cake, or the green light at the end of Daisy's dock (what it symbolizes), or God. I thought "chimeral cake" just rolled off the tongue so well, that I decided to make a tiny song of it. I'll soon make a full version. I'll soon also get After Effects and whatnot, so I can add additional stuff to it. SDK isn't hard--it's just really involved and esoteric, like Photoshop. It's one of those programs that doesn't take too long to actually learn, but the difficulty comes from the complexity of what you're trying to do. I was the first in my class to pick up Photoshop and get certified in it by several months--I'm sure I can pick up SDK quite fast, too--who knows, maybe one day I'll even make a full out game powered by source xD
