Fix Error 0x80070002, We couldn’t set your default save location
Here's how to Fix Error 0x80070002, We couldn’t set your default save location:
- Make sure you have administrator privileges on your computer. The error often occurs if you don't have admin rights.
- Check that the folder you're trying to set as the default save location exists and that you have permissions to access it. Create the folder if it doesn't exist.
- Open Registry Editor and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders. Check that the folder paths for "Personal" and other folders are valid.
- Delete the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders and restart your computer. Windows will recreate this key with default folder locations.
- Open an elevated Command Prompt and run "attrib -h -r -s c:\users\username\*" to remove hidden, read-only and system attributes from your user profile folder.
- Use Disk Cleanup to delete temporary files and other unnecessary data from your user profile. This frees up space that may be needed for saving files.
- As a last resort, create a new user profile and copy over files you need from the old profile. Set the default save location on the new profile.
