Flappy Bird, one of the most popular and most downloaded games for mobile phones. Now ported to SAM Coupé from the original iPhone version from 2013. Flappy Bird was developed by Vietnamese video game artist and programmer Dong Nguyen and the game was released in May 2013, and was downloaded 50 million times by January 2014, making it one of the top free games on the Android and iOS app stores. During this period, its developer said that Flappy Bird was earning $50,000 a day from in-app advertisements as well as sales.

Flappy Bird received poor reviews from some critics, who criticized its high level of difficulty, alleged plagiarism in graphics, similar design to Super Mario and game mechanics, while other reviewers found it addictive.

The game was removed from both the App Store and Google Play by its creator on February 10, 2014. He claims that he felt guilt over what he considered to be its addictive nature and overuse. The game's popularity and sudden removal caused phones with it pre-installed to be put up for sale for high prices over the Internet. Games similar to Flappy Bird became popular on the iTunes App Store in the wake of its removal, and both Apple and Google have removed games from their app stores for being too similar to the original.

In August 2014, a revised version of Flappy Bird, called Flappy Birds Family, was released exclusively for the Amazon Fire TV. Bay Tek Games also released a licensed coin-operated Flappy Bird arcade game.

The SAM Coupé version was made by Howard Price / Cooking Circle in 2021 and it is a very accurate port of the original mobile game, so if you are a fan of this game and would like to play it on a big TV screen instead, the SAM version is a good choice and it also features bird tweeting, music, and the "ping sfx" everytime you go through a pipe, which has been disabled here so we can better hear the music.

The game has no ending, it is a high score game, and this longplay ends after passing through 300 pipes and reaching the score of 300.
