Finally the first racing game for the SAM Coupé arrives! The name makes you think about Daytona and it features 3 different tracks with head-to-head races against a computer opponent, but there is also always six other opponents on the tracks. So there is seven cars on each track and basically the six yellow ones is just there to slow you down in your chase for the car you have to beat.

If you collide with the other cars you will spin, and driving into the barriers at the side of the track will make you stop. You also have to watch out for oil dropped from the car you have to beat, oil will also make you spin.

Every time you crash/spin the car will take a small amount of damage. This is repaired every time the finish line is crossed, but if you crash/spin many times on a round the car will explode, and if you make a really hard crash the car may explode immediately.

Only one of the three tracks is selectable from the beginning, you have to unlock the others, which is done by winning the races.

Easy game:
You have 12 laps to beat the green car in a head-to-head race.

Hard game:
The blue car is faster and you only get 10 laps to win the race.

WTF game:
The red car is even faster and now it’s only 8 laps.

It is very simple to control your car, it is done by joystick or keys 6, 7, 0. There are only left, right and accelerate, the car will slow down when releasing fire button / 0 (and you will not get stuck, it is easy to make u-turns).

The controls works fine and your car moves smooth and slick, but avoiding all other cars and oil while staying on the track takes some time and a lot of practice to master. A very simple, but very tactic game, that is not easy to beat and you got 3 nice soundtracks to listen to while picking up the challenge.

This game is very similar to Super Sprint and Championship Sprint, and while it is not groundbreaking in any kind of way it is well made, and the first racing game for the SAM, and games like Super Sprint and Championship Sprint has always been fun and very playable.
