Flashback is a science fiction platform video game remake of the original 1992 Flashback. The game developed by the original game designer, Paul Cuisset, with his studio, VectorCell, and published by Ubisoft. The game was released on August 21, 2013 on Xbox Live Arcade.

Although this remake is quite good, it doesn't blow your socks off like the original version did back in 1992. The game is essentially an expanded experience of the original and improves in some departments but falls short in others. Improvements can be seen in graphics - particularly in the environment, which are beautifully enhanced and animated over the original. Voice acting has been added for dialogue which was completely absent in the original version. There are also some beautiful pieces of music composition. Another enhancement is an expanded story (but I cannot comment on this since I've only played till the 2nd chapter). Of particular note - where the game is let down - is for instance the hilarious death animations (which I couldn't resist leaving in). Instead of Conrad laying down like a sand bag at the point of death, he continues the full animation cycle of the command he was engaged in prior to death. This results in some of the most hilarious death scenes I've ever seen - walking dead, walking backwards dead, rolling dead. If you don't get it, I'll let the video do the talking. Since it is a little unfair to criticise a game that you haven't completed I won't go any further but in conclusion - I have enjoyed this game but also have been disappointed by it. I think fans of the original should play this game even if it doesn't hit those lofty heights of Delphine Software.
