Developed by Jim Nangano and published by First Star Software in 1984.

A pretty cool puzzle/strategy game from 1984, quite early in the C64's life cycle. The objective is to control Flip the kangaroo and his friend, Mitch the monkey as they try to step on all of the patterned tiles in each level and turn them solid white.

Each level is drawn from an isometric perspective, with many tiles, ladders and "fly paper" traps that will root you to the spot if you step on them. To complicate matters, Flip is pursued by a keeper trying to recapture him, whilst Mitch must avoid being caught in a sentient net. It's possible to lure them on to the fly paper traps, whereupon they'll get trapped for a few seconds. It's very easy fall off the platforms, so you need to be quick and precise when plotting your route across the platforms.

In later levels, you really have to be quick with the joystick to avoid getting caught as the keeper/net increase in speed with each level. You can't be caught when on ladders and you can touch the enemies providing you don't both land on the same square; a mid-air collision is OK.

I don't think I've got anything negative to say about the game. The only problem you'll have is training your brain to see Mitch's levels correctly since they're meant to look like they're upside-down so that it gives the impression that Mitch is swinging from the underside of the platforms.

The game is far too long to record every single level; even when you finish the the first 20 levels, the game then increases the difficulty even further by making you stand on each tile twice. So, for this video, I've recorded all the regular levels and the first "2 pattern level" where you're required to touch each space twice; I think it gives you an idea about the game ;)

Enjoy!
