This is a conversion of the original arcade game by Irem Corp. The R-Type series has a reputation as being one of the most challenging series of shmups ever created and that title is certainly deserved here.

The guys at Arc Developments did a solid job on the conversion. The graphics look great and the sound effects and music (courtesy of Martin Walker) are even better than the arcade original. The frame rate takes a hit when things get busy, but it's still very playable.
