Focus on learning one piece of technology at a time

When you are trying to learn to code, there are a lot of distractions that can keep you from that goal. I recommend that you focus on one technology at a time and to get a solid understanding of that technology before moving onto something new. For example, don't switch around from learning one programming language to another, just stick to one and learn it well. If you plan to become a web developer, focus on learning as much as you can about HTML and how it works before moving onto learning CSS. You should be able to build a multiple page application using HTML alone.
