Football To Be Stopped Because Of COVID? Manchester United, Real Madrid, Liverpool Covid Outbreak: PREMIER LEAGUE COVID OUTBREAK
The Premier League on Thursday postponed six more matches due to the wave of coronavirus infections hitting Britain, but said it intended to "continue its current fixture schedule where safely possible" as calls for a circuit break intensified. Leicester's scheduled match against Tottenham was postponed just hours before kick-off on Thursday. Five more games scheduled for this weekend have also been postponed due to outbreaks at Manchester United, Brentford, Norwich and Watford. United's home clash with Brighton, Brentford's trip to Southampton, Watford's meeting with Crystal Palace and West Ham's fixture against Norwich have all been called off along with Leicester's visit to Everton. Madrid had to move Thursday's training session scheduled for the morning to the afternoon as players, staff and club workers were tested again. "Real Madrid announces that our players [Marco] Asensio, [Gareth] Bale, [Andriy] Lunin and Rodrygo as well as our first assistant manager, Davide Ancelotti, have tested positive for COVID-19," a club statement said. Davide Ancelotti is the son of coach Carlo Ancelotti, who arrived at Madrid's training ground in Valdebebas on Thursday afternoon to carry out the session. Earlier on Thursday, Marcelo posted a video on social media to reassure fans himself and his family are doing well and that he is eager to return to training as fast as possible.
