For a Few Bullets More: Any% | 5:57 | Desperados III Speedrun
2This level is a bit too tedious for me to do a serious run of, but Mokni posting their run and mentioning that they didn't really have a strat for this level inspired me to make a rough demonstration of my general approach
Main strat: find a guard in a long, narrow area. Roof sections are good for this. Stand next to them a shoot them to cause lots of other guards to investigate the death and gunshot. Once they've clumped up, blow them away with Hector. Clean up the stragglers with Kate/McCoy. After about two shotguns and cleanup, it's time to move to the next area. Get each major section quickly, then after most enemies are gone pull up the map with M and track down anyone still left.
Secondary strat: Move Cooper onto the train tracks, shoot two enemies, then move off. This lures enemies onto the tracks to get the train to help take out a bunch of people for you. If you timed it better you could get a lot of kills this way. And make sure you yourself aren't on the tracks when the train comes
I also set enemy detection speed to the highest level in the difficulty settings while keeping everything else on the lowest difficulty
Further optimizations to be had:
- Civilians won't run toward alarms, so seek them out while you're nearby
- Plan where each character will restock on ammo. Highlighting with H helps, but looking around wastes a lot of time
- Make sure your character don't run through doors when moving from one place to another to avoid having to re-enable invisibility. Use more teleports than I do here. TPs are hard at the beginning of the level, but once some enemies are dead you can use their bodies to set up your ghost easier
