FORD MUSTANG SVT COBRA. Gran Turismo on PPSSPP - Time trial #59
Together with the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger, the Ford Mustang makes up the modern trinity of American pony cars. (In fact, it pretty much set the trend when it was first launched way back in 1964.) Coincidentally, this year marks the 55th anniversary of the Mustang, so I figure now would be a better time than ever to celebrate the occasion with a high performance variant of the legendary muscle car.

[Description (based in-game)]
SVT is the name of what could be called Ford's elite group of craftsmen. Since the middle of the '90s, most of Ford's high-performance concept models have been born here. Enter the Cobra R: SVT's ultimate Mustang. This model had a limited release of only 106 units in 1993, 250 units in 1995, and then 300 units in 2000.
Based on the Mustang - which underwent a full model change in 1994 - when the Cobra R was released in 1995, the limited number of vehicles produced sold out in the blink of an eye, and production was ended. But with the Cobra base model's evolution of rear-wheel independent suspension, the car was brought back in 2000. It goes without saying that the new Cobra R, based on a new model chassis, blew the older generation model away in total performance, and 300 of them were sent out to especially hardcore Mustang fans.
The reason that so few Cobra Rs were manufactured is simply because the production cost is so extremely high. The actual components of the Cobra R, regardless of the model, are mostly special parts.
Loaded into the 2000 model Cobra R wasn't the standard Mustang 4.6L SOHC, or even a DOHC 4-valve, but it was an all-aluminum 5.4-liter DOHC 4-valve V-8, capable of a maximum output of 287 kW. Of course, a special chassis and suspension were employed to handle this kind of power, and the car was comparable to a street-legal "commercial racer."
Whereas the standard GT carried a price tag of US$20,000 and the Cobra cost US$28,000, this model went for a whopping US$54,000. But considering the fact that everything - from the engine to the underbody - was tuned at the hands of master craftsmen, this price is not at all unreasonable.
